How do you make gin?
The base for making your own gin is neutral alcohol. We recommend using a good vodka. The most important and characteristic ingredient in your gin is the juniper berry. Let your gin base infuse with it for at least a day. This process is called maceration - which is a cold infusion of substances in a liquid. If you crush the berries and seeds before use, they will more easily release their oily aroma into the alcohol.
After 24 hours you can give your gin a personal touch. In this phase you add your own chosen herbs. Macerate for another 24 hours and then strain the herbs from your gin.
Of course you can taste it now! To let the Gin develop its full flavor, we recommend you put it in the fridge for at least 10 hours.
Because your gin is not distilled, it retains its characteristic colour.

Is making gin difficult?
In fact, gin is nothing more than a neutral alcoholic drink that is flavoured by adding various herbs.
Officially, there are some rules to call your drink Gin. For example, it must contain at least 37.5% alcohol. It must also contain juniper berries.
The nice thing about Gin is that it does not need to be distilled, so you can make your own Gin at home. One small disadvantage of this is that your Gin will never be completely transparent but the taste will be the same (and this is of course the most important).
The colour of your Gin will depend on which herbs you use. But in general the colour will turn out more yellow-orange.
Which herbs can I use?
The herbs you use are one of the most fun steps in making your own gin. Because this is what will make your gin unique. You decide what and how much you put in it.
In our package you will receive 3 unique recipes that you can use as a guideline when making your gin.
We will give you some typical examples of herbs to choose from. Our gift set comes with 12 high quality herbs.
Juniper berry: this gives it a peppery and slightly lavender flavor. The traditionally dried berries are best because they give a concentrated flavor.
Coriander seeds: This complements the juniper nicely and adds citrus notes to your drink.
Angelica root: provides a good blend between the flavors and has a bit of a wooden/earthy taste
Lemon or orange zest: Makes the whole thing a bit fresher
Licorice powder: This softens the taste and makes it a little sweeter in general.
